BH Awesome Added to the Database

By Alex • May 5th, 2008 • Category: Fly Tying

It’s been a while since I’ve added any new patterns to the database.  About a month ago, I had a nice surprise waiting for me at my doorstep when I got home from work.  Keith from Singlebarbed sent me a sampler assortment of different colors of angelina fibers to try out, along with a few other goodies.  Sampler assortment might be a little misleading since he filled a 20″x20″x20″ box full of assorted colors of the stuff he’s been playing around with for a while now.

This stuff is awesome.

I threw this fly pattern together the other night getting ready for a brook trout excursion in the Adirondacks this weekend.  Though I only tied a couple, I will definitely be tying up many, many more after seeing how it looked and moved through the water.

It looked and moved awesome.

So when trying to think of a name for this fly last night, “Awesome” seemed to fit.

  1. There’s honor in a good skunking - keeps us humble. I spent two days being buffeted about in the water - had a hell of an adventure, and didn’t even see a fish.

I hold a grudge better’n most - so the next fish I hook will likely have the hook driven clean through it…

  2. Skunkings are always a little easier to handle when you’re surrounded by beautiful scenery.
